Senate Rejects Gun Amendment

Voting mostly along party lines, the U.S. Senate on Wednesday rejected an amendment that would have expanded federal background checks for gun buyers. The vote was 54 to 46, but 60 votes were needed to pass the amendment. Oklahoma U.S. Senators Tom Coburn and Jim Inhofe, both Republicans, voted against the amendment.
