Randy Travis appears to be improving as he continues to recover from congestive heart failure and a stroke. In a video update released Monday, Dr. Gary Erwin says the country star is making progress following last Wednesday's emergency surgery for the stroke.
But Dr. Erwin adds that Travis will likely remain hospitalized at The Heart Hospital Baylor Plano for two to three more weeks before he's transferred to another facility, where he'll continue his physical therapy. The doctor also says it will likely take Randy "months to recover from the stroke."
Travis has been hospitalized since July 7th. He was admitted with cardiomyopathy and congestive heart failure, which doctors believe is what triggered the stroke. Dr. Michael Mack says tests indicate neither drugs nor alcohol caused the singer's heart condition, and adds that Travis has a family history of heart problems.
